SUMMARY:Adaptations for disability\, ageing\, and health
DESCRIPTION:Part of a series of monthly webinars to help social housing residents understand their rights\, how to stand up for them\, and how to get better treatment and services from landlords. \n\nSocial housing landlords must clearly communicate to tenants and relevant organisations how they will assist tenants seeking housing adaptations and must co-operate with tenants\, appropriate local authority departments and other relevant organisations so that a housing adaptations service is available to tenants where appropriate. \nFor residents with different health conditions or disabilities\, there are often various different options\, based on what’s needed. This webinar will look at what happens if you need some help\, where you should start\, what some of the options and challenges might be and how the system could or should work better. \nWe’ll be joined by Paul Smith\, who’s the CEO of Foundations UK\, the national body for Disabled Facilities Grants and Home Improvement Agencies in England. There’ll be plenty of opportunity for discussion and your questions. \nSession open to all social housing residents. Closed captions will be enabled.

SUMMARY:Tenant Satisfaction Measures
DESCRIPTION:Part of a series of monthly webinars to help social housing residents understand their rights\, how to stand up for them\, and how to get better treatment and services from landlords. \n\n\n\nTenant Satisfaction Measures (TSMs) are a new way for social housing tenants to understand how their landlord is performing against key areas.\n\n\n\nThe TSMs are collected by landlords according to requirements set by the Regulator of Social Housing in the Transparency\, Influence and Accountability Standard. They include information from tenant surveys and are generated from management information held by landlords. They cover areas including repairs and maintenance\, complaints\, respectful and helpful engagement\, and building safety.\n\n\n\n\nThe TSMs are intended to help tenants see how their landlord is performing\, highlight to landlords areas where they might need improvement\, and provide information to the Regulator on how far landlords are meeting the outcomes of the new Consumer Standards.\n\n\n\nLandlords that own 1\,000 or more units of social housing are required to submit information about their TSM results to the Regulator. These have been published for the first time in November 2024.\n\n\n\nAt this webinar\, Fleur Prest-Stephens and Jack Smith from the Tenant Engagement Team at the Regulator of Social Housing will:\n\nShare the headlines from the first round of Tenant Satisfaction Measures\nTalk about how tenants can use this information to scrutinise their landlords and hold them to account\nShare how the Regulator will use this information to work with landlords to improve standards\n\nThere’ll be the opportunity for discussion and to ask questions.\n\n\nThis session is open to all social housing residents. Closed captions will be enabled.

SUMMARY:How to get people involved
DESCRIPTION:Part of a series of monthly webinars to help social housing residents understand their rights\, how to stand up for them\, and how to get better treatment and services from landlords.\n“Nobody seems bothered”\, “we only get a few people coming along to meetings”… \nOne of the things that often comes up in Four Million Homes sessions is to how to get other people involved: whether it’s about finding out and organising around a shared issue you’re facing with your landlord\, or about engaging more people in your resident group or association. \nRyan Shelswell\, Customer Voice Lead from Cobalt Housing in Liverpool\, alongside involved tenants Leah Stevens and Julie Hoyle\, will deliver a presentation on how Cobalt Housing approach tenant involvement; both formally and informally at a neighbourhood level. \nPaul Kelly\, CCH Associate\, will deliver a talk around the CCH Active Engagement strategy and how to explore different routes to engage tenants and how to measure success. \nAs always\, there’ll be plenty of opportunity to ask questions and for discussion. \nSession is open to all social housing residents.

Closed captions will be enabled.

SUMMARY:Have your say - timescales for repairs
DESCRIPTION:On 9th January the government released the Awaab’s Law consultation.  This proposes introducing new strict time limits for social housing providers to force them to take swift action in addressing dangerous hazards such as damp and mould. \nIt proposes new legal requirements for social landlords to investigate hazards within 14 days\, start fixing them within a further 7 days\, and make emergency repairs within 24 hours. Landlords who fail can be taken to court where they may be ordered to pay compensation for tenants.    Landlords will be expected to keep clear records to improve transparency for tenants – showing every attempt is made to comply with the new timescales so they can no longer delay to rectify people’s homes. \nSarah Dicker\, Head of Decency Standards at the Department of Levelling Up\, Housing and Communities will give an overview of the consultation and the government context. We will then facilitate a discussion around the consultation questions\, and feed in a response on behalf of Four Million Homes.
