SUMMARY:New proposals for decent and warm homes - Decent Homes and Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards explained
DESCRIPTION:In 2025\, the UK government is asking for views on changes to the Decent Homes Standard (DHS) and Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) for social and private rented homes. These consultations\, open until 10 September 2025\, aim to improve the quality and energy efficiency of homes—especially focusing on things like condition and warmth. The proposed changes include stricter rules on building repairs\, preventing damp and mould\, and making homes more energy efficient by aiming for an EPC rating of C or better \nWe’re holding an information session to help explain what the consultations are about and how you can share your views. Officials from the Decent Homes and Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards teams will be there to talk through the proposals and what they could mean for you as a resident. There will be time for questions and open discussion. \nClosed captions will be available. \nThe consultations close at 11:45pm on 10 September 2025. You can read more and share your views using the links below: \nDecent Homes consultation here: \nMinimum Energy Efficiency Standards consultation here: \nPlease note that to book your place and receive the zoom link and details for the sessions you need to click the ‘Book a Place’ button below and add your details. SUMMARY:Four Million Homes – programme relaunch
DESCRIPTION:The Four Million Homes programme is about supporting positive change in social housing. We’re here to give residents the tools they need – free training\, guidance\, and information – about their rights and how to stand up for them. \nFunded by the Ministry of Housing\, Communities and Local Government\, the programme first launched in April 2023 for two years and has been extended for another year\, now running through to March 2026. \nIn this one-hour online session\, we’ll look back at what we’ve achieved so far and share our plans for the year ahead. You’ll find out how you can get involved and have the opportunity to ask any questions. Speakers to be announced \nThe webinar is open to all social housing residents\, staff and volunteers from social landlords\, and professionals working in the housing sector. \nClosed captions will be enabled

SUMMARY:Adaptations for disability\, ageing\, and health
DESCRIPTION:Part of a series of monthly webinars to help social housing residents understand their rights\, how to stand up for them\, and how to get better treatment and services from landlords. \n\nSocial housing landlords must clearly communicate to tenants and relevant organisations how they will assist tenants seeking housing adaptations and must co-operate with tenants\, appropriate local authority departments and other relevant organisations so that a housing adaptations service is available to tenants where appropriate. \nFor residents with different health conditions or disabilities\, there are often various different options\, based on what’s needed. This webinar will look at what happens if you need some help\, where you should start\, what some of the options and challenges might be and how the system could or should work better. \nWe’ll be joined by Paul Smith\, who’s the CEO of Foundations UK\, the national body for Disabled Facilities Grants and Home Improvement Agencies in England. There’ll be plenty of opportunity for discussion and your questions. \nSession open to all social housing residents. Closed captions will be enabled.

SUMMARY:Tenant Satisfaction Measures
DESCRIPTION:Part of a series of monthly webinars to help social housing residents understand their rights\, how to stand up for them\, and how to get better treatment and services from landlords. \n\n\n\nTenant Satisfaction Measures (TSMs) are a new way for social housing tenants to understand how their landlord is performing against key areas.\n\n\n\nThe TSMs are collected by landlords according to requirements set by the Regulator of Social Housing in the Transparency\, Influence and Accountability Standard. They include information from tenant surveys and are generated from management information held by landlords. They cover areas including repairs and maintenance\, complaints\, respectful and helpful engagement\, and building safety.\n\n\n\n\nThe TSMs are intended to help tenants see how their landlord is performing\, highlight to landlords areas where they might need improvement\, and provide information to the Regulator on how far landlords are meeting the outcomes of the new Consumer Standards.\n\n\n\nLandlords that own 1\,000 or more units of social housing are required to submit information about their TSM results to the Regulator. These have been published for the first time in November 2024.\n\n\n\nAt this webinar\, Fleur Prest-Stephens and Jack Smith from the Tenant Engagement Team at the Regulator of Social Housing will:\n\nShare the headlines from the first round of Tenant Satisfaction Measures\nTalk about how tenants can use this information to scrutinise their landlords and hold them to account\nShare how the Regulator will use this information to work with landlords to improve standards\n\nThere’ll be the opportunity for discussion and to ask questions.\n\n\nThis session is open to all social housing residents.
